Healthy Nutrition - Tips and Recipes for Baby Food

For over 60 years, the healthy development of babies and children has been of particular concern to all of us at NUK. This also includes nutrition: a tasty and good mix of vital nutrients and vitamins is the best foundation for growing up big and strong. Nutritionally balanced purees that taste good

are much easier to make than you think – and homemade is not only healthier, it tastes best to children too. With the help of experts we have developed recipes that you can quite easily cook for yourself. So: pans at the ready, steady, go!

Together with the Research Institute of Child Nutrition in Dortmund (FKE) we have developed tasty recipes which make it very easy to get used to solids. A nutrition plan for the first year of life clearly shows when certain foods are important for your child.

Carrots with Potatoes and Pork.

A recipe that tastes great!
     90 gCarrots         15 gApple Juice
     40 gPotatoes          8 gRapeseed Oil
     20 gPork Filet          2 tbspWater
  1. Cut the peeled carrot into slices about 1cm thick and dice the peeled potato into pieces of roughly the same size. Put both into a pot.
  2. Add enough water to almost cover the vegetables and bring to the boil. Cover with a lid and leave to cook on a medium heat for about 15 minutes.
  3. Cut the pork filet into four small pieces and add to the carrots and potatoes, then leave to cook for another five minutes.
  4. Drain the water into a container. Add the apple juice, rapeseed oil and approx. 2 tbsp. of the drained water to the cooked ingredients.
  5. Puree everything together until the desired consistency is reached. Ready!

Tip: Use a little more drained water to the puree if you are preparing several portions.

Smoothie Ice Cream Recipe (6+ m)

Ingredients:

Yellow Smoothie:

  • 200 g Banana
  • 150 g Pineapple
  • 200 ml Orange Juice

Red Smoothie:

  • 200 g Strawberries
  • 150 g Raspberries
  • 200 ml Multivitamin Juice

 

Method:

Yellow Smoothie:

  1. Fit the 4-blade smoothie knife into the bowl.
  2. Slice the banana and put into the bowl.
  3. Add the chopped-up pineapple.
  4. Pour in the juice and puree until no pieces are visible.

Red Smoothie: 

  1. Cut up the strawberries and put in the bowl.
  2. Add the raspberries.
  3. Pour in the juice and puree until no pieces are visible.

 

Smoothie Ice Cream:

Pour the red and yellow smoothies into the NUK Fresh Foods Freezer Tray and put it in the freezer.

 

 

 

Courgette and Tomato with Sweet Potato and Millet Flakes Recipe (5+ m)

Courgette and Tomato with Sweet Potato and Millet Flakes Recipe (5+ m)

Ingredients:

  • 45 g Tomatoes 
  • 45 g Courgettes 
  • 40 g Sweet Potatoes 
  • 7 g Millet Flakes 
  • 50 ml Water (for soaking) 
  • 30 ml Apple Juice 
  • 1 Tbsp Rapeseed Oil
  • A few basil leaves

 

 

Method:

  1. Fill the water tank to the third mark. Fit the 2-blade puree knife into the bowl.
  2. Cut the tomatoes, courgettes and sweet potatoes into small pieces. Put everything into the large basket and cook until the NUK Baby Menu beeps to tell you it has finished. Pour off the water into a container. 
  3. In the meantime, pour the water onto the millet flakes and leave to soak.
  4. Put the cooked ingredients, the soaked millet flakes, the apple juice and the rapeseed oil together into the bowl. 
  5. Puree to the consistency you want. Stir occasionally with the spatula. Add a little of the reserved water if required.
  6. Roll and cut up the fresh basil leaves to garnish the puree. Ready!

 

 

 

Fennel with Potatoes and Oat Flakes Recipe (7+ m)

Fennel with Potatoes and Oat Flakes Recipe (7+ m)

Ingredients

  • 50 g Potatoes 
  • 100 g Fennel
  • 10 g Oat Flakes (quick cook)
  • 35 ml Apple Juice 
  • 1 Tbsp Rapeseed Oil 
  • 5 Tbsp Water (from cooking)
  • Parsley

 

Method:

  1. Fill the water tank to the third mark. Fit the 2-blade puree knife into the bowl.
  2. Dice the potatoes, put them into the large basket and switch the steamer on.
  3. Dice the fennel and after approx. 6 minutes add it to the potato pieces then wait until the NUK Baby Menu beeps to tell you it has finished cooking.
  4. Pour off the water into a container. Put the vegetables into the bowl to puree. Add the apple juice, rapeseed oil, oat flakes and approx. 5 tablespoons of the reserved water.
  5. Puree everything together to the consistency you want. Stir occasionally with the spatula and add a little more of the water if required. Garnish with parsley. It’s ready!

 

 

 

 

 

Parsnips with Potatoes and Pork Recipe (10+ m)

Parsnips with Potatoes and Pork Recipe (10+ m)

Ingredients: 

  • 100 g Parsnips 
  • 60 g Potatoes
  • 30 g Pork Fillet 
  • 40 ml Orange Juice
  • 1 Tbsp Rapeseed Oil
  • 3 Tbsp Water (from cooking)
  • Fresh Rosemary 

 

Method: 

  1. Fill the water tank to the third mark. Fit the 2-blade puree knife into the bowl.
  2. Peel the parsnips and cut them into approx. 0.5 cm thick slices. Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes of about the same size. Put both vegetables into the cooking basket and turn the NUK Baby Menu on. 
  3. Divide the pork fillet into two and after 6 minutes add it to the vegetables and wait until the NUK Baby Menu beeps to tell you it has finished cooking.
  4. Pour off the water into a container. Put the vegetables and pork together with the juice, rapeseed oil and approx. 3 tablespoons of the reserved water into the bowl to puree. 
  5. Puree everything together to the consistency you want. Stir occasionally with the spatula and add more of the water if required.
  6. Garnish the puree with a little chopped rosemary. Ready!
